What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma therapy (PRP) for HAIR LOSS or SKIN REJUVINATION is a four-step medical treatment. A person’s blood is drawn from the arm like a regular blood test. It is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. The platelet-rich plasma is then removed and injected into the scalp for Hair Restoration or into the skin for Skin Rejuvenation.
PRP for Hair Restoration
Approximately 50-60% of men and 40% of women in North America have male or female pattern hair loss, also known as androgenic hair loss. An immediate family history is not always present. This can be quite distressing, affecting self-esteem, confidence, quality of life and relationships.
PRP injections for Hair Restoration stimulates natural hair growth by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. PRP is a form of regenerative medicine that can harness those abilities and amplify the natural growth factors your body uses to heal and stimulate the hair follicle.
Current studies indicate that approximately 70% of patients respond favorably to treatment, with results typically seen at 4-6 months. For best results, consistency is key. PRP is performed once a month for the first 3 to 4 months, and then every 8 to 12 months thereafter, depending on the individual patient’s response and results
Individual results will vary with, among other things, the quality of a person’s platelets and growth factors. PRP typically treats Female/Male pattern hair loss, also known as Androgenetic Hair Loss, Alopecia Areata, Hair Shedding, also known as chronic Telogen Effluvium.
PRP for Skin Rejuvenation (Vampire Facial)
Known as the Vampire Facial, platelet-rich plasma is injected into your skin. The platelets release growth factors that recruit reparative cells and, hence, revitalize and heal tissues. In other words, platelets are cells that help soft tissue to heal and grow new cells. Once absorbed, the PRP stimulates new, stronger, healthier collagen. This higher quality collagen takes a couple weeks to grow. However, you will notice skin tightening, reduce wrinkles, plump skin, diminished acne scars and brighten dull skin. The results of your treatment continue to improve for several weeks after treatment.
For the best result, a recommend course of 3 treatments, a month apart are recommended for Skin Rejuvenation and Acne Scarring, followed by an annual treatment for maintenance.
Please Note: A consultation is recommended for any PRP treatment. PRP treatments are safe for people of any age, but if you're taking a blood thinner, have skin cancer, or any medical condition related to blood, such as HIV or hepatitis C, Platelet Rich Therapy is not recommended.
