Pigmentation & Photofacials
Skin damage due to excessive sun exposure, photo-ageing, sometimes shows up as premature wrinkling, leathery skin, freckles, age spots and broken blood vessels/capillaries. The best defense against the damaging effects of the sun is a broad spectrum sunscreen which provides protection against both UVA and UVB radiation. Reversing sun damage is possible with a combination of products and procedures, such as the Photo Facial.

What is a Photo Facial?
Photo Facial is a non-invasive treatment which uses light-based technology to deliver broad band light (BBL) to the skin for rejuvenation. It is a gentle and highly effective method of targeting damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, red spots (haemangioma), small facial veins (telangiectasia), rosacea, redness & flushing. A photo facial also stimulates new collagen growth and tightens underlying skin resulting in smoother texture and a reduction in fine lines. A series of 4-6 treatments at 4 week intervals is recommended.
Who is the ideal candidate?
The ideal candidate for BBL therapy is someone with light to medium skin colour who has sunspots, broken blood vessels, flushing or Rosacea.
Are there any side effects?
Temporary redness and mild swelling can occur for some patients. Although very rare, laser or light rejuvenation treatment can leave skin blisters or burns which could lead to mild scarring and changes in skin colour or pigment.
Can I go out into the sun again?
While undergoing treatments, we recommend you stay out of the sun and/or wear sun block. You should always protect yourself by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with UVA/UVB and a high SPF (minimum 30 SPF).
When will I see treatment results?
You should experience best results after three to five treatment sessions.
Will there be any downtime?
Most patients return to work or their usual daily activities immediately following the procedure. The effect of different light-based systems varies according to the type of equipment and the person’s skin type.
