BBL HEROIC™

Turn down sun damage and redness & turn up your glow.

Discover BBL Heroic™, the next generation of light-based skin rejuvenation at Copeland MD Aesthetics.

BBL HEROic™ delivers precise bursts of high-intensity light to gently warm the upper skin layers, targeting pigment irregularities, vascular redness, and sun damage while stimulating natural collagen renewal. With High-Energy Rapid Output (HERO) and intelligent control, it treats large areas quickly, evenly, and comfortably—ideal for full face, neck, chest, arms, and hands—while sapphire contact-cooling keeps sessions gentle, even on sensitive skin. A personalized series can dramatically improve tone, clarity, and overall skin vitality; many clients notice visible results after just one session, with improvements that build over time. We’re proud to be Canada’s first clinic to offer BBL HEROic™ on the Sciton JOULE platform.

BBL HEROic™ is Sciton’s next-generation, “smart” BroadBand Light device that uses onboard sensors and software to deliver even, consistent light pulses for tone and clarity with minimal downtime. It adds Intelligent Control (IC) and a Skin Positioning System (SPS™)—a motion-tracking sensor—to automate pulse placement as you move over curved areas, reducing striping and missed spots. It’s also the first device to feature Autodynamic Pulsing™, a fully automated pulse-delivery system for uniform coverage.

Why it’s different

  • Smart guidance = consistent results: SPS tracks handpiece position in six degrees of freedom while IC adjusts pulse placement in real time—smoothing technique differences between providers.
  • Autodynamic Pulsing™: automated pulse alignment to avoid gaps, overlap, or “tiger striping,” even over curves.
  • Quick-Change Smart Filters™ & Finesse Spot Adapters™: fast swap-outs to target specific issues; e.g., the 532+ filter for small vessels and the SkinSmooth™ 640S filter to enhance skin smoothness and luminosity.
  • Comfort built in: a sapphire-crystal cooling plate (CoolComfort™) keeps the epidermis chilled within ~1° during treatment, helping sessions feel gentle while energy reaches the target.
  • Speed & coverage: designed to treat large areas in minutes; the HERO lineage is known for high-speed full-body capability.

What does BBL HEROic™ treat?

BBL HEROic™ improves a wide range of tone and clarity concerns, including sun damage, brown spots, freckles, redness, broken capillaries, rosacea-related flushing, and uneven pigmentation. It also supports collagen renewal, helping skin appear smoother, brighter, and more even over time. Acne-focused protocols are available for appropriate candidates.

Am I a good candidate for BBL HEROic™?

Most people concerned with redness, sun damage, uneven tone, or early texture changes are good candidates. We assess skin tone, pigment pattern, medical history, and goals during consultation. Some conditions—such as melasma—require a customized or combined approach, which your provider will discuss candidly.

How should I prepare for a BBL HEROic™ treatment?

To ensure safety and optimal results:

  • Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for 2 weeks prior; use SPF 30+ daily
  • Pause retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, and exfoliation on the area for 3–5 days before treatment
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin (no makeup, oils, deodorant, or fragrance on the treated area)
  • Tell us about photosensitizing medications, recent antibiotics, isotretinoin history, cold sores, pregnancy, or breastfeeding

Your provider may recommend a test spot or adjusted settings for deeper skin tones.

Does BBL HEROic™ hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation as brief snaps of warmth, similar to a rubber band with a flash of light. HEROic’s intelligent energy delivery and sapphire contact cooling make treatments very tolerable. Numbing cream is rarely needed.

  • Makeup: okay once skin is calm (often same day or next day). Do not pick flaking pigment.

Note: BBL is not ideal for some pigment patterns (e.g., melasma) without a tailored plan—your clinician will guide you.

What happens during the treatment?

After cleansing and eye protection, the handpiece is passed smoothly over the skin, delivering controlled pulses of light. The built-in motion tracking and cooling system ensure even coverage and comfort. Treatments are quick—often just minutes for large areas like the face, neck, or chest.

What should I expect after treatment?
  • Immediately: mild redness and warmth for a few hours; occasional mild swelling
  • Pigment response: brown spots may darken (“peppering”) before flaking off over 5–10 days on the face (longer on body areas)
  • Aftercare: gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF 30+ daily
  • Avoid for 24–48 hours: heat, saunas, intense exercise, and active skincare

Makeup may be worn once the skin is calm. Do not pick or exfoliate flaking pigment.
When will I see results, and how many treatments are needed?

Many patients notice visible improvement after one session, with results building over time. Most start with a series of 3–5 treatments, spaced:

  • Face: every 3–4 weeks
  • Neck/chest/body: every 4–8 weeks
Acne protocols may begin more frequently before tapering.
Do I need maintenance treatments?

Yes. To maintain clarity and collagen support, most patients benefit from maintenance treatments every 3–6 months (about 2–4 sessions per year), with flexibility around sun exposure and seasonal changes.
