LIP AUGMENTATION

Subtle, balanced enhancement for beautiful lips.

Dr. Copeland uses premium fillers to enhance the shape of lips,  restoring definition, volume, and symmetry as necessary, while maintaining a soft, natural look.

The lips are one of the most expressive and defining features of the face. As lips age, volume, definition, and hydration decline: the red (vermilion) thins, fine lines appear around the mouth, the Cupid’s bow softens, and the corners can turn down due to muscle pull and tissue changes. Genetics, sun exposure, smoking, and repeated motion (speaking, pursing, drinking through straws) all contribute.

Dr. Copeland approaches lip enhancement with precision and artistry, focusing on proportion, balance, and texture. His goal is not simply to “fill” lips, but to create shape and structure that complement the entire face.
By using different HA filler formulations (such as Restylane® Kysse, Juvederm® Volbella®, or Belotero Balance®), he can customize treatment for subtle hydration, soft volume, or a more defined contour — depending on the patient’s anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Each treatment is designed to respect natural movement and expression, preserving softness and flexibility while adding just the right amount of lift or plumpness. Results are immediate and can last 6–12 months, depending on the product and individual metabolism.

Because hyaluronic acid is biocompatible and reversible with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, HA lip fillers are extremely safe when performed by a qualified injector.

Am I a good candidate for lip augmentation?

You may be a good candidate if you’d like to improve lip volume, shape, symmetry, or definition, or if you’ve noticed thinning, fine lines, or loss of hydration over time. Ideal candidates are generally healthy, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have realistic expectations about subtle, natural-looking enhancement. A consultation is essential to assess anatomy, proportions, and goals.

Does lip filler hurt?

Most hyaluronic-acid (HA) fillers contain lidocaine, and we also use topical numbing, cooling, or a small dental-style nerve block when helpful. You may feel brief pinches and pressure, but treatment is typically well tolerated and quick.

Will my lips look overdone or unnatural?

No. Dr. Copeland uses an anatomy-based, conservative approach focused on proportion, balance, and natural movement. Enhancements are often built gradually—sometimes over staged sessions—so lips look soft, refreshed, and in harmony with the rest of your face.

What happens during the treatment?

After a consultation and assessment, the lips are cleansed and numbed. The filler is placed using precise techniques with a fine needle or cannula, then gently shaped as needed. Appointments usually take 15–30 minutes.

What should I expect right after treatment?

Swelling is normal and typically peaks within the first 24–48 hours, then settles over 3–7 days. The upper lip may look fuller early on. Mild bruising or tenderness can occur. Most people return to daily activities immediately.

What does recovery look like?

=Recovery is usually straightforward:

  • First few days: swelling and tenderness gradually improve
  • By 1 week: shape continues to refine
  • At 2 weeks: final result is visible
Any small areas of firmness typically soften as the filler integrates.
How long do lip fillers last?

Most HA lip fillers last 6–12 months, depending on the product used, metabolism, and lip movement. Many patients choose small maintenance treatments every 6–9 months to keep results seamless. If preferences change, HA fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Are lip fillers safe?

When performed by a trained medical injector using Health Canada–approved products, lip fillers have a strong safety profile. Common temporary effects include swelling, bruising, and tenderness. Rare but serious complications are minimized through conservative dosing, advanced technique, and immediate access to hyaluronidase and emergency protocols.
