CLEAR V

Goodbye Broken Capillaries. Hello Clear Skin.

ClearV® delivers focused 1064 nm Nd:YAG energy to treat visible and subsurface vessels while sparing surrounding skin—quick, comfortable, and convenient care for face, leg, and body areas.

ClearV is a specialized vascular laser designed to treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, and other vascular skin concerns on the face and body. It uses a long-pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength, chosen for its ability to penetrate the skin and be absorbed by hemoglobin (the red pigment in blood).

When the laser energy is delivered, the blood inside the targeted vessels absorbs the light and converts it to heat. This controlled heating causes the vessel walls to collapse and seal. Over the following weeks, your body gradually reabsorbs these treated vessels, so they fade and become less visible at the surface.

ClearV is designed to treat both vessels you can see and those just below the surface. Its handpiece includes Subsurface Vein Illumination (SVI™)—special integrated lighting that helps your provider visualize deeper feeder veins and treat them more thoroughly. An integrated sapphire cooling tip, adjustable in 1-degree increments, helps keep the skin surface comfortable and protected during treatment, while the focused laser energy works on the vessels underneath.

The result is a targeted, non-surgical approach to reducing unwanted veins and redness, with minimal impact on the surrounding skin and little to no downtime.

What concerns does ClearV treat?

ClearV is designed to improve a wide range of vascular and redness-related issues, including:

  • Small facial veins and broken capillaries (telangiectasias)
  • Spider veins on the face, legs, and body
  • General facial redness and rosacea-related vessels
  • Reticular/blue veins around the eyes and on the legs
  • Certain vascular lesions such as cherry angiomas, venous lakes, and some birthmarks
  • Select areas of skin discoloration linked to underlying vessels

Dr. Copeland will assess whether your specific concern is vascular in nature and suitable for ClearV.

Which areas of the body can be treated?

Common treatment areas include:

  • Face: cheeks, nose, chin, around the eyes and temples
  • Neck and chest: redness, small vessels, and some vascular discoloration
  • Legs: spider veins and small visible veins
  • Other body areas: select vascular spots or lesions (e.g., cherry angiomas)

ClearV is suitable for all skin types when used with appropriate settings.

Am I a good candidate for ClearV?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are bothered by visible veins, broken capillaries, or redness
  • Prefer a non-surgical, minimal-downtime option
  • Are in generally good health and not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Do not have an active infection, open wounds, or uncontrolled medical conditions in the treatment area

Certain conditions—such as very large varicose veins, severe vascular disease, or specific medications—may make other treatments more appropriate. A consultation is essential to determine if ClearV is right for you.

How should I prepare for a ClearV treatment?

Preparation is similar to other light/laser procedures:

  • Avoid tanning and self-tanners on the treatment area for 2–4 weeks before your appointment.
  • Use broad-spectrum SPF daily on exposed areas.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, high-dose omega-3s, vitamin E, ginkgo, etc.) for about 5–7 days, if your prescribing doctor agrees.
  • Do not apply heavy lotions, perfumes, or irritants to the area on the day of treatment.

Your provider will give you personalized instructions based on your skin type, medical history, and the area being treated.

What happens during a ClearV treatment?
  1. Consultation & mapping – The area is examined and target vessels are identified, sometimes using the built-in illumination to visualize subsurface veins.
  2. Cleansing & eye protection – The skin is cleansed and protective eyewear is provided.
  3. Laser delivery – The Cool, sapphire-tipped ClearV handpiece is placed against the skin, and pulses of 1064 nm laser energy are delivered along the vessels. You may see flashes of light and feel brief warmth or a snapping sensation.
  4. Post-care – A soothing product or cool pack may be applied, and you’ll receive specific aftercare guidelines.

Most sessions take 15–45 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas treated.

Does ClearV hurt?

Most people describe the sensation as quick, hot snaps or a warm prickling feeling as the laser pulses. The integrated cooling tip and adjustable settings help keep the treatment comfortable, and many patients tolerate ClearV without the need for numbing. Your provider can adjust settings or use additional comfort measures if you’re sensitive.

What is the downtime after ClearV?

ClearV is considered a minimal-downtime treatment. Afterward, you may notice:

  • Temporary redness and mild swelling
  • Darkening or greying of treated vessels as they collapse
  • Occasionally, slight bruising along treated veins

These effects typically settle over a few days, and most people return to normal activities right away, avoiding only very hot environments and intense exercise for the first 24 hours.

When will I see results, and how many treatments will I need?

Some vessels may look lighter or disappear shortly after treatment, while others fade gradually over a few weeks as the body clears them.

  • Many patients see visible improvement after one session.
  • Depending on the number, size, and depth of vessels, most people need 1–3 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, to reach their goals.

Your provider will recommend a customized plan based on the severity and location of your vascular concerns.
