The Collagen Strategy: Why we combine Ultherapy® + Radiesse®

By Dr. Copeland

As we age, collagen loss is inevitable — but how we respond to it makes all the difference.

In my practice, I don’t treat aging reactively.
I treat it strategically.

March is the ideal time to begin rebuilding structure below the skin so that results peak through the summer and continue improving beyond.

This is why I often recommend the combination of  Ultherapy® and Radiesse® — two treatments that stimulate collagen at different depths.

Ultherapy®: Rebuilding the Foundation

Ultherapy® uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen  beneath the surface.

We use Ultherapy® to:
• Lift and tighten the face and neck
• Improve jawline definition
• Reduce early sagging
• Stimulate long-term collagen production

Results build gradually over 3–6 months as new collagen and elastin  forms.

Radiesse®: Strengthening and Refining

Radiesse® is composed of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres which cause regeneration of collagen, elastin, and micro-vasculature.

Rather than simply adding volume, it acts as a scaffold — encouraging your body to produce new collagen and elastin.

However, how we use Radiesse® depends on the individual.

Traditional vs Hyper-Dilute Radiesse®

There are two ways I may use Radiesse®:

Radiesse® as a traditional filler

(with less volume and greater lifting).

Best for:
• Structural support
• Jawline, chin and cheek contouring
• Areas requiring density and lift

Hyper-Dilute Radiesse® (HD CaHA)

By causing regeneration of collagen, elastin, and micro-vasculature, it is best  for:
• Thinning or crepey skin
• Neck and décolletage
• Diffuse skin laxity
• Improving texture without adding volume

The deciding factor is:

• Skin thickness
• Degree of laxity
• Structural support needed
• Treatment area
• Long-term goals

Every treatment plan is customized, results vary and are best in people who do not smoke or have certain chronic conditions.

Why I Recommend Starting in March

Collagen remodeling takes time.

For optimal results, we typically recommend:

Month 1 (March):
Ultherapy®

Weeks 3–6:
Radiesse® treatment.

1-2 additional Radiesse ® treatments within 6 months as a booster to optimize results.

This phased approach allows collagen to build progressively — so results peak through late spring and summer.

Maintenance is typically performed 12–16 months later, depending on the individual.

March Feature: A Strategic Starting Point

This month’s promotion is designed to initiate that collagen cycle.

It’s not about doing everything at once.
It’s about starting at the right time.

Future promotions will continue to support long-term skin optimization, so I encourage you to stay tuned as we build your results thoughtfully and strategically.

Maintenance Strategy

Collagen stimulation is a regeneration and a reset, however ageing then continues  as usual with time.

Most patients benefit from:

• Ultherapy® once yearly
• Radiesse® maintenance every 12–16 months depending on aging pattern

This creates a sustainable collagen cycle rather than reactive correction.

A Thoughtful, Phased Approach

We approach collagen restoration in phases — not isolated treatments.

March is intentionally designed as the starting point for structural lift and foundational collagen stimulation.

In the months that follow, our plan is to  introduce supplementary treatments that support, enhance, and extend your results. These subsequent features are aligned with the natural timeline of collagen remodeling.

Patients who follow a structured plan, alongside lifestyle recommendations (such as proper skincare, sun-protection, not smoking, heatlhy eating t& exercise) typically achieve stronger, longer-lasting outcomes.

We encourage you to stay tuned as we continue building on this strategy throughout the year. — Dr. Copeland
